Aid Agencies Reach Battered City Of Nablus
World Vision, working alongside other humanitarian organisations, has entered the West Bank city of Nablus to distribute food and medical supplies to residents and hospitals.
After several hours of negotiating with Israeli armed forces, trucks carrying the supplies and clearly marked aid agency cars were allowed to enter the city. But journalists attempting to accompany the convoy were turned back.
Director of World Vison Jerusalem Dan Simmons, speaking by phone over the sound of gunfire, said the infrastructure of the city of Nablus was in ruins.
"Buildings are completely destroyed and the roads are uprooted. It is a war zone," he said.
Mr Simmons said the full-scale Israeli offensive throughout the occupied territories has left many Palestinians without food or water.
