The Australian Trade
Commission (Austrade) will participate in Ag-Quip next month
to help small and medium sized companies learn about selling
their products and services overseas.
Ag-Quip will take place in Gunnedah from Tuesday August 20 to Thursday August 22.
Austrade Senior Trade Commissioners Leith Doody from New Zealand and Sean Riley from Singapore, along with Austrade’s NSW/ACT State Manager, Frank Walsh, will attend Ag-Quip to advise on export opportunities in agribusiness.
They will be joined by Austrade Regional Trade Commissioner Chris Jones, who will host the Austrade 'Exporting for the Future' stand, discussing export opportunities for the region and advising how Austrade can help local companies.
The Austrade representatives will also participate in the Gunnedah Chamber of Commerce dinner.
With the Federal Government’s aim of doubling the number of exporters by 2006, Mr Jones said he was keen to meet companies whose products and services had export potential.
“Austrade provides financial assistance to eligible exporters through the Export Market Development Grants Scheme (EMDG), which provided more than $134 million to nearly 3,000 companies in the last financial year alone,” he said.
“Austrade can help companies reduce the time, cost and risk involved in selling overseas.
“Small and medium sized companies in country areas are the exporters of the future. Austrade recently completed a study that found small and medium sized companies are increasingly becoming involved in exporting and in doing so are contributing to community wealth and prosperity.
“The report also found that the number of exporters from regional areas has grown significantly over and above exporter growth in metropolitan areas.
“In regional areas exports contribute to around one-in-four jobs, and on a national scale, account for around 20 per cent of Australia’s GDP.
“There is definitely potential for further export growth from NSW regional areas and visitors to Ag-Quip are encouraged to have a chat with us about export prospects,” he said.
