Draft Resolution Over Israel's UN Membership

GAZA -- The United Nations General Assembly is to vote on a draft resolution set forth by the Arab states to question the membership of Israel at the United Nations by arguing that Israeli is not entailed to represent the Palestinian territories occupied in 1967.

The Arab states resolution is a strategic landmark in the Palestinian National Authority endeavors, which took the observance representing of Palestine at the United Nations (UN). Such attempts had started in 1982.

The draft resolution by the Arab states asked for “a representation for the Palestinian delegation of the Palestinian territories occupied in 1967 including East Jerusalem at the UN General Assembly.

The text of the resolution cited “Israel, as member state in the United Nations exclude its representation of the occupied Palestinian territories.“ It is likely that the United States and other Western countries would veto any resolution putting certain conditions over the membership of Israel at the United Nations.

The resolution vote bring in line with the probable speech delivered by the Israeli Prime Minister, announcing plans of unilateral steps during a keynote speech he will give at the annual strategic forum in Hertzilya near Tel Aviv on Thursday. That effect is vehemently refused by the Palestinian leadership.
