Deported Man Now Dumped In Tanzania
Deported Man Now In Tanzania
DIMIA does it again-Dumps another man in Tanzania. Even while the Court Case for Eidriess goes on in Adelaide, DIMIA have hired P& I to do their dirty work again by forcibly deporting AR to Tanzania. This time the deportee AR is carying his own execution decree.
A VISITOR reports....
"I met this young man, Ramaden, at Baxter in January. I had been asked to visit him because he had had few visitors over his long time in detention. I think I might have been his second visitor. He was so young, quietly spoken, gentle.
He was fearful about being returned but also hopeful because he had been able to get this new evidence which would prove he had not been lying. I seem to remember he said he had a photo of himself is some uniform which would prove his story and also an official paper confirming his story. I think ( can't exactly remember) he had deserted from forced conscription in the army because of continued threats from the rebel group that they would kill him if he stayed in the army. He was between a rock and a hard place and felt no-one could protect him.."
Today I read an extract from this paper on an email list. His court appeals had not been successful but now he had a chance with a 48B appeal based on this new evidence. I don't think he had received any of the threatening visits from DIMIA officials telling him he had to return or he would be deported- so common for many others in detention. This deportation seemed to come out of the blue. They took him from his room when everyone was asleep around 4 or 5am I believe. He was off to Perth where there was a 12noon plane to Johannesburg.
ON Wednesday a young gentle sensitive man in Baxter detention centre was taken before dawn for deportation back to Algeria, a place where over 7000 people have just disappeared over the last decade. He lost his original appeals because the Refugee Tribunal did not believe his story and he was not in a position to be able to prove it. By late last year after three years in detention he was able to finally get official documents from Algeria proving his story. This official paper states that he had been threatened by a terrorist group, had made these threats known to the appropriate authorities and was still on the condemned list of this terrorist group.
This young man's lawyers were ready to present these papers to the Minister in an appeal to have his case reheard. Instead, in violation of Australian guidelines set out in "Sanctuary Under Review" about forced removals this young man was whisked away with no notice to himself or his lawyers. These guidelines state:
"The removee should be given reasonable notice of their removal arrangements (at least 48 hours before departure) unless there are significant security reasons or other risks (eg. possibility of a suicide attempt.. for a later notification)"
and "When the removee has a legal representative, notice is to be provided to that person and a copy of the removal arrangements provided to the removee."
DIMIA BREACHES ALL UNDERTAKINGS.
Where was the interview which told AR that he was going to be deported? Why didn't DIMIA advise his lawyer as they are supposed to do under the regulations?
Why did DIMIA ignore the document carrying the execution decree for AR?
No it was the 4 am sneak into the room, grab and disappear act. Was he knocked out with sedation? We dont know but no one heard him go so no one knew until the afternoon. Stuffed on a plane to South Africa and then off to DAR-ES-SALAAM , Tanzania where P& I (Australias hired people traffickers) can fix deals with Embassies to traffick people back into countries where they are at risk.
Last Christmas, Tanzania is where P&I (hired by DIMIA) tried to get rid of Eidriess by trafficking him into Sudan. The Sudanese embassy refused to take him or to accept the shonky Australian Travel document rigged up by DIMIA. In the end P&I had to take Eidriess back to South Africa where he exceeded the allowable 24 hours transit and so was returned to Australia.
AR's life hangs in the balance. He has a decree stating that he will be executed if found in Algeria. Just imagine how he feels tonight, worrying about the torture and execution head of him while hired henchmen wheel and deal with Algeria to get rid of him.
Last time P& I told theTanzania authorities that Eidriess was a criminal and being deported from Australia for committing acriminal act. this resulted in him being transferred from immigration detention to the prison. we know this becasue alawyerwas preent and relayed the information back to us. Eidriess also received no food or water from P& I whilst on the ground in tanzania and his few Australian dollars were not accepted.
We can only hope that on top of the fear and insecurity of wondering what will happen to him that AR is not hungry and thirsty as well. Water is not drinkable in Tanzania and has to be purchased.
This is what the Australian Government say about Algeria- it did not stop them sending A.R. back there.
Random violence and indiscriminate killing of civilians continue to occur regularly, including ambushes on country roads and village massacres. There has also been a resumption of random bombings in public places, including near the capital, Algiers. Violent clashes between security forces and armed rebels continue to occur, such as the recent massacre of 43 soldiers near the town of Teniet El-Abed, in the Aurès Mountains southeast of Algiers.
Civil unrest and terrorist incidents continue outside the major urban centres, especially in the northwest region of Algeria. The region of Tiaret and the province of Chlef in particular have been the site of several recent village massacres. Australians with essential reasons to visit Algeria should conform with local practice and consider hiring professional armed protection. Accommodation booked at hotels that provide a high level of security is recommended. Australians should avoid moving around after dark and are strongly advised to avoid all demonstrations and public gatherings. There have also been several recent incidents of violent clashes between Berber nationalists and Algerian security forces during demonstrations in the region of Kabylia. If travelling outside the capital Algiers, Australians should contact the Australian Embassy in Paris for advice before doing so.
Terrorist incidents have been concentrated in
the north and west of the country where ports, passenger
trains, airline terminals, buses and market places have been
specifically targeted. Villages and communes in the
hinterland of Algiers and in western Algeria have
experienced an increasing number of large-scale massacres of
residents. Civilians have also been injured and killed in
gunfights between government security forces and armed
rebels. Travel to the Sahara Desert and the mountainous
regions of the southeast of the country, including the
regions of Tamanrasset, Djanet and Illizi, should be
avoided. In 2003, over 30 foreign tourists were kidnapped
during adventure holidays in the southeast desert region,
resulting in the death of one of the captives. Bandit
activity continues in the area.
