Variety Fitzy Ford Classic Golf Day Culminates In Presentation Of 78th Sunshine Coach
Ford New Zealand helped raise more than $35,000 for Variety – The Children's Charity at the annual Fitzy Ford Classic Golf Day, which was held at the picturesque Gulf Harbour Country Club course on Friday.
The money raised was put towards the purchase of a new Ford Econovan Sunshine Coach, which was donated to the Mt. Eden branch of Youth Horizons Trust.
The new coach is the 78th to be presented in New Zealand. "Ford Motor Company is an international supporter of Variety, and Ford's employees in New Zealand are proud to be actively involved in Variety activities during the year as part of our Corporate Citizenship programme," said National Sales Manager, Mike de Veer.
"The Variety Fitzy Ford Classic Golf Day is one more way as an organization that we help contribute to make a difference in society. We also enjoy involving other corporates and celebrities in this fun-filled day," added Mr. de Veer.
21 teams participated in the event, and celebrities who gave of their time included Andy Haden, Mike King, Andrew Clay, Joe Stanley, Gary Whetton, Dion Nash, Howard Dobson, Julie Coney, Phil Leishman and Shaun Summerfield.
A charity auction followed dinner and prizegiving, and items to raise significant money included a GT Radial Allan Moffat hot laps package ($1000), a signed All Blacks jersey ($2500) and one of Sarah Ulmer's Olympic race suits ($5000).
