South Africa: STI and Condom Week
STI and Condom Week
Winterveldt - NW Department of Health will be celebrating Sexually Transmitted Infections and Condom week, as a component of the department's endeavour to inform our communities about the dangers, treatment, and prevention of sexually transmitted infections.
"It has come to the department's attention that although our people make use of condoms supplied by our government, sexually transmitted infections are still a worrying factor. We therefore want to intensify our awareness campaigns to encourage all sexually active persons to avoid STIs by using condoms", said Barba Gaoganediwe, the departmental spokesperson.
The theme for this year's campaigns is “Your Sexual Health, Your Responsibility”. With this theme the department wants to among others; motivate all affected persons, to have responsibilities for their sexual activities, by making right choices before engaging in sex.
The celebration for this year's STI week will be held on Thursday, 17 February 2005
