PCRC Announces New Director
SUVA (PCRC/Pacific Media Watch): The executive board of the Nuclear Free and Independent Pacific (NFIP) movement and the Pacific Concerns Resource Centre (PCRC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Tupou Vere to the position of director.
Vere attained her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of the South Pacific, majoring in administration and sociology, and has had experience at national policy level working with civil society organisations such as Fiji YWCA, Fiji Anti Nuclear Group, National Council of Women Fiji, other regional non-governmental organisations as well as inter-governmental processes since 1985.
Vere first joined PCRC in 2000 as the assistant-director sustainable human development bringing with her a wealth of experience ranging from economic and trade justice advocacy and policy analysis from an indigenous, social and human rights¹ perspectives.
She was temporarily appointed acting director by the executive board in July last year now succeeds Motarilavoa Hilda Lini for a term of three years.
Vere is the first Fiji national to hold the post since PCRC was established in 1975.
The PCRC serves as the secretariat for the Nuclear Free and Independent Pacific Movement (NFIP). PCRC acts for over 100 partner non-government organisations and community organisations in 33 countries internationally.
