Iranians are welcoming President George W. Bush's State of Union Speech, delivered on Tuesday evening, and his public support of the freedom cause in Iran.
Many of them are showing their deep sense of appreciation by calling abroad based radio and TV networks, such as the popular NITV and KRSI, in order to express their support of Bush's comments during the programs. Many other are asking for the e-mail listing or fax and phone numbers of the White House. Hundreds of those e-mails or faxes have been sent and many calls have been made, so far, and more are expected each hour.
Many Iranians, especially those located inside Iran, are stating that finally 'somebody' has understood their plight and is publicly making the pledge to help them to finish up with the clerics' illegitimate rule.
Most opposition groups, such as the SMCCDI and the "Iran's National Secular Party" (INSP), have great hopes that the Bush Administration will use of all its diplomatic and economic power in order to help them to bring down the theocracy by non-military means and will support them in the promotion of an elected secular and democratic political structure.
Aryo B. Pirouznia, who spoke to the popular NITV, on Tuesday evening and shortly after Mr. Bush's speech, welcomed the Presidential State of Union Address. He called, on behalf of SMCCDI and INSP, on the Iranian Diaspora to carry actions showing the Iranians' expression of gratitude toward the US executive head for his comments.
Responding to the well respected NITV's anchors, Zia Attabai and Manook Khodabakhshian, Pirouznia stated: "Mr. Bush's comments are in line with the Protestantism and Reformation traditions which gave born to the USA and made of it as a defender of freedom. We should remember of Wilson, Monroe, Lincoln, Roosevelt and Regan and their legacy of freedom for the mankind. Mr. Bush is also of the line of such great men who have a cause to defend and are doing so in the best of the possibilities."
"We're not looking for America to bring us freedom or democracy in a package or by military means, but without doubt, no one..., No one..., can deny the fact that Bush's support is a considerable factor in our combat against a barbarian regime which is killing and is bribing the planet for staying few more days in power.."
"Iranians of inside have long showed their rejection of the Islamic regime and are still paying the high price for their braveries. In such conditions, we can't ask them to do more. The time has come for Iranians who are residing abroad and especially in the US to respond to their duty. This duty is to back their countrymen and to seize every occasion to show their people's opposition to the totality of the Islamic regime.."
"We should seize the current windows of International opportunities created by the US pressure on the regime's economic allies for boosting our efforts and win our noble fight!"
The Movement's Coordinator added: "I and my comrades are planning to go and express our gratitude in front of President Bush's ranch located in Crawford, Texas. I call on all those who are living in Texas to join us!"
Same comments and request were made, on Wednesday, on the waves of the KRSI during an interview with Siavash Azary.
Tens have joined, in the last 2 days, the Movement in order to help the organization of such a way of expression of gratitude. The event should take place in the next days and before the celebration of the "Presidents Day" in the US.
On Tuesday evening, the US President addressed directly the Iranians and stated: "Iran is a nation now held hostage by a small clerical elite that is isolating and repressing its people. The regime in that country sponsors terrorists in the Palestinian territories and in Lebanon -- and that must come to an end. The Iranian government is defying the world with its nuclear ambitions -- and the nations of the world must not permit the Iranian regime to gain nuclear weapons. America will continue to rally the world to confront these threats. And tonight, let me speak directly to the citizens of Iran: America respects you, and we respect your country. We respect your right to choose your own future and win your own freedom. And our nation hopes one day to be the closest of friends with a free and democratic Iran."
