Steve's memory lives on

Media Release – 5 October 2006

Steve's memory lives on

Plans have been announced at Australia Zoo for the release of a special edition DVD featuring the Steve Irwin memorial tribute service "He Changed Our World". This DVD will be released through EMI Music New Zealand on October 23rd.

The worldwide public response to last week's touching tribute in the Crocoseum at Australia Zoo to Steve's life has been outstanding and has prompted the rushed release of the memorial service.

Steve's producer and manager John Stainton said today, "We have been overwhelmed by the reaction to the television broadcast which seems to have captured the love and emotion that filled the 5,000 seat Crocoseum. I know Steve would have been proud of the service I put together for him and I am sure he would be even more honoured to know that his loyal supporters will be able to have their own memory to keep. Everyone who took part in the ceremony has given their permission to be included in the DVD as their contribution to Steve's Wildlife Warriors."

All royalties from this DVD release will go to the Wildlife Warriors fund to help carry on Steve's critical work with endangered species, habitat protection and running his wildlife hospital.

John O'Donnell, Managing Director of EMI Music Australia said, "Releasing the Steve Irwin Memorial Tribute DVD is an honour for all of us at EMI Music around the world. It allows us to contribute to the preservation of Steve's memory, and is something we are deeply grateful to have the opportunity to do. It's important to us that the work of such an iconic Australian and his passion for wildlife is not only remembered but is able to live on."

EMI Australia and affiliates around the world are attempting to break DVD production records to make this DVD available by Monday October 23, in reaction to the incredible outpouring of emotion from the public around the globe and its expressed demand for this DVD release.
