Vosanibola reassures of security
23rd October, 2006
The Minister for Home Affairs and Immigration Josefa Vosanibola has reassured that security for Forum Leaders attending the 37th Pacific Island Leaders meeting in Nadi is in good control.
In an interview with the Ministry of Information, Mr. Vosanibola said he echoes the assurance that Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase conveyed last week that there is no reason to worry.
He said there is really no reason for this, as security has been well co-coordinated from the point of dismemberment from the plane, to their travel on the road right up to their stay in the hotel. “The police, army and the navy are all working together to assure a high level of security, for our visiting dignitaries,” Mr. Vosanibola said.
This security assurance even include the air space over the Island of Denarau . “At this moment, airplanes are not allowed to fly over head the hotel and island of Denarau , and that in itself shows the level of security that is around the main meeting area, “Mr. Vosanibola stated.
The Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase earlier this morning was briefed on the security measures in place for the meeting.
Thanking the officers, for the long hours put in to ensure the security of our high powered visitors; Mr. Qarase said this can only augur well for the country as a whole.
The Prime Minister stated we can not be complacent about security, and the assurance that they are safe and well looked after is what Pacific Islanders are renowned for.
