Dramatic Transformation in Energy, Global
Warming Debate: Memo on Message and Positioning
Al Quinlan, Stan Greenberg, John Podesta
The public debate
over energy and global warming has undergone a dramatic
transformation over the past few years. While these issues
have lacked both salience and urgency in the past, public
opinion has swung soundly behind progressives. Americans see
the United States slipping behind the rest of the world on
energy and global warming and want action now.
Research released earlier this week by Greenberg Quinlan Rosner for the Center for American Progress demonstrates the extent to which people are ready for public officials to undertake aggressive efforts to make America energy independent and combat global warming. Based on that research, Al Quinlan, Stan Greenberg, and the Center for American Progress's John Podesta have written a critical memo for progressives on the most compelling messages and themes to use when talking about these issues.
