Costello's Climate Denial Budget

Costello's Climate Denial Budget only believes in recycling solar promises

"The Budget, as brought down by the Treasurer Peter Costello tonight, shows that the Howard government "only believes in recycling" when it comes to Climate Change strategies, and that is, that Costello recycles used previous election promises in the $8,000 Solar power grant,"WA Rights group Project SafeCom's spokesman Jack H Smit said tonight.

"The grant of $8,000 to install solar power generation cells on family homes, is nothing new. Previously the same grant was announced with fanfare, then reduced to $4,000 and then reduced to $0. The Treasurer now trumpets this as a generous grant."

"That's all the treasurer has in mind for climate change, because as can be deducted from his opening words, climate change is still on the way to Australia and it will take another decade to arrive."

"The budget is a massive missed opportunity for the government to advance its credibility on dealing with climate change. It is now left up to Labor and the minor parties and the Greens to save Australia, not just from the effects of climate change, but also from this archaic set of Climate Deniers," spokesman Jack H Smit concluded.
