New Resources To Assist ADF Members And Families Make Important Financial Decisions
Minister Assisting the Minister for Defence Bruce Billson today launched a package of educational resources that will assist ADF members and their families in making important and informed decisions about their financial futures.
These new educational resources were produced by the Australian Defence Force Financial Services Consumer Council (ADFFSCC) which was launched by the Minister for Defence last September.
"The websites, booklets and multimedia resources have the potential to impact positively on the welfare and peace of mind of all serving members and their families, as well as civilian members of Defence," Mr Billson said.
"The educational text in these colourful and engaging materials has been developed in conjunction with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), and I am grateful for their ongoing support of the Council's work."
The support of financial regulators such ASIC and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has been important in developing these materials.
"I encourage all ADF members and their families to familiarise themselves with the important information on the Council's website at www.adfconsumer.gov.au which also contains details about how to obtain the Council's other helpful resources," Mr Billson said.
The ADFFSCC's charter is to provide independent, professional financial education -not financial advice - to ADF members and their families.
"It will also act as an expert and independent advisory body on consumer matters related to products and services offered to Defence people by the financial services industry, and will foster and maintain a positive relationship with regulators, relevant industry associations and participants in the financial services industry," Mr Billson said.
