Residents Of Masra Al Qibliya Protest Over Land
Palestinian Residents Of Masra Al Qibliya Protest The Confiscation Of Their Land
Tomorrow morning at 10:00 AM Palestinians, Israelis and international supporters will gather for a non-violent protest organized by the residents of Masra Al-Qibliya, a Palestinian town located between two illegal Israeli West Bank settlements: Talmon and Nehali'el.
Two weeks ago, the Israeli government confiscated land owned by the village and declared it state land.
Israeli bulldozers have already begun to tear up land there and Israeli settlers from Talmon have already begun to plant grapes. While the local community plans on pursuing this confiscation through the courts, judicial action alone does not prevent settlers from trying to take over the land in the meanwhile.
Thus, the community has chosen to resist additionally through non-violent protest, which has been successfully implemented in other surrounding communities such as Bil'in.
To travel to Masra Al-Qibliya, please take either a shared or private taxi, both of which are available from Ramallah.
The demonstration will begin at 10:00 AM August 22, 2007.
