IOC Athletes' Commission Election, 31 Olympian Candidates
Thirty-one athletes are candidates for the IOC Athletes' Commission elections, which will be held during the Games in Beijing in 2008. Four places will be available, replacing Sergey Bubka, Robert Ctvrtlik, Barbara Kendall and Alexander Popov.
These candidates should have been nominated by their respective NOCs and should have participated in the last 2004 Athens Games. The voters will be the athletes participating in the upcoming 2008 Beijing Games.
Here's a list of the 31 candidates (in alphabetical order), which is still subject for approval of the Nominations Commission:

The IOC Athletes' Commission was created in 1981. It serves as the link between the Olympic athletes and the IOC, acting as the athletes' voice within the Olympic Movement. The majority of the Commission's members (12 out of 19) have been elected by their peers within the period of the ongoing Olympic Games since 1996.
