Fiji's Acting PM To Launch $3.17m Road Upgrading

Fiji's Acting PM To Launch $3.17m Road Upgrading

Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade Ratu Epeli Nailatikau will be chief guest at the groundbreaking ceremony for road upgrading in Nameka, Tailevu tomorrow.

With a monetary value of $3.17million, the road upgrade will cover a distance of 36km running from Nukurua to Vatukarasa.

Funded by a grant from the People's Republic of China, this project is being administered by the Development Cooperation and Facilitation Division of the Prime Minister's Office.

On the other hand, this road will be upgraded from its current condition to a Public Works Department road standard so that it can be serviced by public transport such as buses and taxis.

The upgrading works has been awarded to a local contractor in Viti Vanua Holdings of Labasa through tender and given the good reputation of the company from previous road works, the road is expected to be of the best standards.

The groundbreaking ceremony will begin tomorrow morning at 9:00am in Nameka village in the tikina of Tai Vugalei.
