Gordon Brown Praises 'Help For Heroes' Campaign
PM praises forces campaign
Gordon Brown has thanked readers of The Sun newspaper for their contributions to a campaign to help injured servicemen and women.
In a Downing Street statement, the PM praised readers' generosity in donating £2.2 million to the Help for Heroes fund that will help build a rehabilitation centre, including a gym and swimming pool, in Surrey.
The PM said:
"Well done to the Sun for raising £2 million for the Help For Heroes campaign. The young men and women in our Armed Forces voluntarily put themselves in grave danger to serve their country and Help for Heroes gives the public a practical way to demonstrate their support for our wounded servicemen and their families. The generosity of your readers reflects our country's great pride and support for the incredible bravery of our forces."
