PM Condemns Attack On Taiwan Embassy
The Prime Minister, Dr Derek Sikua has described as outrage a recent break in of the Taiwanese Embassy at Panatina Plaza in East Honiara.
Dr Sikua says he and his Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister, William Haomae, have both expressed their outrage at the incident, especially to the Taiwanese Embassy whose home Government has done so much for Solomon Islands and its people.
Dr Sikua says the attack is totally unacceptable and is calling on Police crime investigators to work extra hard to arrest the culprits.
He expresses surprise at how the thieves managed to force their way into the office while security men guard the Panatina Plaza on a 24-hour rotation.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sikua is calling on Solomon Islanders to respect high commissions and embassies of "our donor partners because their home governments have been putting a lot of money and technical assistance towards our country's development efforts".
He says in Solomon Islands' normal tradition, recipients of goods or kinds reciprocate with respect and kindness".
Prime Minister Sikua says the tradition must be kept at all times.
