PM Welcomes Chinese Delegation

Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama today (25/2) welcomed a group of Chinese entrepreneurs led by Fiji's Ambassador to People's Republic of China (PRC), Sir James Ah Koy.

PM Bainimarama said the presence of business delegation is a proof of the trade and investment opportunities that exist between the two countries upon which we can strengthen our bilateral relations.

"There is scope for growing our bilateral relations through trade, investment, education, sports and cultural exchange and seizing these opportunities will ultimately improve the standard of living for our people."

The newly established Fiji/China Business Council is one of the new initiatives that is promised to further build on the trade and economic ties between Fiji and China.

The Interim Government is looking forward to working together with Chinese delegation to meet shared challenges and build prosperity for both Fiji and the People's Republic of China.

PM Bainimarama also thanked Fiji's Ambassador to China Sir James Ah Koy for bringing the businessmen to Fiji. The Chinese delegation is focusing on Ethanol and Low Cost Housing projects. They are also exploring opportunities for investment in agriculture, manufacturing and tourism.

They will meet business stakeholders and relevant key industries like Fiji Islands Trade Investment Bureau (FTIB), Native Lands Trust Board (NLTB), Fiji Electricity Authority (FEA) and Housing Authority (HA).
