PM To Meet US And Commonwealth Officials

PM Bainimarama To Meet US And Commonwealth Officials

Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama will meet the United States Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary, Mr Glyn Davies and Mr. Albert Mariner, Senior Programme Officer, of the Political Affairs Division, Commonwealth Secretariat.

The meetings are being scheduled for Wednesday 27/2.

The meetings are part of the Interim Governments ongoing engagements to keep the international community fully informed of the Fiji situation.

PM Bainimarama will update the two officials separately on the progress the Interim Government is making in the implementation of the Presidential mandate and work being done to lay solid foundation's for Fiji's return to Parliamentary democracy.

Commodore Bainimarama said he is committed to having ongoing dialogue with anyone interested in better understanding the Fiji situation.

" I fully understand and appreciate the concerns, interests and anxiety which the international community has, particularly on the timeline for Fiji's return to parliamentary democracy. However, I would also like them to understand the work in progress on the ground here to build a peaceful well governed and progressive Fiji.

Commodore Bainimarama has recently returned from a successful visit to India where he met Indian Minister for External Affairs, Shri Pranab Mukherjee and other dignitaries and toured and inspected a number of medical facilities
