Department For International Development (UK)

UK Government Will Give At Least £10m Further Support To The People Of Ethiopia

The UK Government will give at least £10m further support to the people of Ethiopia in response to the deteriorating humanitarian situation, International Development Secretary Douglas Alexander said tonight. He said a team of DFID officials will be arriving in Ethiopia from tomorrow to assess the situation.

The Ethiopian government is expected to launch an emergency appeal this week. The £10m contribution will come in addition to the £5m from the UK announced last month.
