PM Urges Leaders To Work Towards A United Fiji
PM urges leaders to work towards Building a United Fiji
"Advisory councillors are the people's representatives who liaise and work closely with the government departments in getting the work done for the people and the exchange of information between government agencies and councillors is the basis on which government plans for the future developments," says Prime Minister Bainimarama.
Speaking at the opening of the 10th National Advisory Council Meeting, PM Bainimarama addressed the community leaders to build national identity.
"The best strategy I feel you can use is to be a community model in reaching out to the other groups and assimilate with their cultures and traditions'.
Prime Minister Bainimarama said through the People's Charter process, government is determined to have a peaceful, tolerant and culturally vibrant Fiji.
'Government as usual will address national problems such as poverty, squatter settlements, unemployment, expiry of land leases, drug-abuse and other related social ills in our society'.
He welcomed views of the National Advisory Councils on the areas of People's Charter, 2009 general elections, better utilization of land, scholarships and community development projects to take the country forward.
The National Advisory Council ends today.
