Police Minister Farewells Outgoing Commissioner of Prisons
The Minister of Police, Security and Correctional Services Hon Samuel Manetoali yesterday thanked outgoing Commissioner of Prisons Barry Apsey for his outstanding service to Solomon Islands.
The Minister said Mr Apsey’s professionalism and commitment to share knowledge and experience with local officers during his term is extremely valuable.
“Mr Apsey’s vision to improve correctional services in the country to meet international standards is a great gift to Solomon Islands,” Minister Manetoali said.
He said Mr Apsey has been very influential in transforming the standard of correctional services in the country that meets international standards.
Hon Manetoali also joined senior government officers, diplomats, heads of statutory organisations and commissions as well as senior Police and RAMSI officials to welcome the new Commissioner Francis Haisoma.
The event was marked with a ceremony at Rove ground in Honiara yesterday.
Incoming Commissioner Mr Haosimoa said the work ahead will not be easy but through cooperation from all stakeholders, much can be achieved.
He said one of his priorities would be to house Correctional Services officers.
Outgoing Commissioner Mr Apsey said the standard of Solomon Islands Correctional services has reached the stage it is in today through cooperation of the management, staff and all those who served in the Correctional Service.
Mr Apsey will leave this Friday after serving for three years.
