Prime Minister Sikua Congratulates President Obama
Prime Minister Dr Derek Sikua today has congratulated Barak Obama on his inauguration as the 44th President of the United States of America.
Dr Sikua, on behalf of the Government and People of Solomon Islands conveyed his warm and sincere congratulations in an official statement today.
“Mr. President you are elected by your people to the leadership of the most dynamic nation on this planet, the bedrock and beacon of democracy, the creative heart of the world, the standard bearer for free enterprise, a bastion of believers in God” Dr Sikua said. “Your citizens originally came from all corners of the world including Solomon Islands”.
“We subscribe to the ideals you represent as articulated in your speeches. Our country – small though it may be – will support your leadership to instill the ideals you represent in world affairs.
The Prime Minister said the people of Solomon Islands pray that God will continue to give President Obama strength, wisdom and good people to support him in his endeavors for America and for the world.
“We pray that other leaders of the world will become inspired by your ideals,” Dr Sikua said. “We also pray and hope that when your children and our children, and children in other countries of the world reach the age of leadership that we of our generation have achieved, they will find that the world is a better place for them and future generations”.
Dr Sikua said Solomon Islanders join President Obama and his family, as they pray to God today for his divine guidance and support, as he begin a new era in the Presidency of the United States of America.
“Mr. President, my Government is committed to working closely with your Government as we strive to collectively address the many challenges facing our world,” Dr Sikua said
