3 West Papuans Shot Dead By Indonesia’s Military

Three Civilian West Papuans Shot Dead By Indonesia’s Governmnet Military On The Sunday Morning.

Executives of the West Papua National Authority, the provisional government of West Papua, are sitting in Canberra for two days in June 2009.

They are calling for the immediate cessation of illegal and un-natural processes by the Indonesian government in West Papua. These include kidnapping huge indigenous West Papua particularly toward West Papua National Congress wife Mrs Yoku four days ago, torturing, shot dead three Papuan and injured more than twenty civilian at the Regency of Mamberamo Papua, terrorism, raping, and incarceration of the indigenous Melanesians.

The Authority is insisting that Indonesian President SusiloBambangYudhoyono guarantee the safety and liberty of leaders from inside and outside West Papua during a National Leadership Summit in Jayapura and Jakarta.

The West Papua National Authority is advising President Yudhoyono to release all West Papuan political prisoners as a gesture of goodwill before the presidential elections. This includes the five Australians incarcerated in Merauke (Mr and Mrs William Scott Bloxam, Ms Karen Burke, Mr Keith Mortimer and Mr Hubert Hofer). The Authority believes they are, like many West Papuans, not criminals but victims of political tension between Jakarta and Jayapura. The Authority believes their continued incarceration is not contributing to relations with Australia that are helpful to Indonesia or West Papua.

The Authority believes the international community, including the United Nations, supports its concern that Indonesia is undermining any possibility for justice and peace in the region unless the government agrees to talks under the auspice of a third party.

God bless the people of Indonesia, God bless West Papuans and God bless the people of Australia.
