Draft Federal Constitution Out For Public Viewing

The Solomon Islands 1st 2009 Draft Federal Constitution is now available for public viewing.

The Constitution was amended from the Draft Federal Constitution of Solomon Islands 2004, which was announced in June this year as having been passed by the Joint Constitutional Congress/Eminent Persons Advisory Council Plenary.

A copy of the document can be viewed online at: www.sicr.gov.sb .

The Constitutional Congress (CC) and the Eminent Persons Advisory Council (EPAC) of the Constitutional Reform Program has completed a two-month review of the Draft Federal Constitution of 2004 in a Joint Plenary on 26 June 2009 at the in Honiara.

The Constitutional Reform Unit (CRU) is the body responsible for the management and coordination of the Constitutional Reform Project.

CRU is an established division within the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet which acts as the Secretariat for the Constitutional Congress and the Eminent Persons Advisory Council.

The CRU will be responsible for the preparation of quarterly progress reports outlining main project updates, financial and budget information.

The report will be provided to the CC, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of National Planning and Aid Coordination, and others as deemed appropriate.
