Cycolone Mick -- UNICEF stands by to respond

The UN Children's Fund is standing by to respond to the emergency needs of children and families in Fiji as Cyclone Mick makes its way over the country.

UNICEF has pre-positioned emergency supplies that are available to be deployed as needed, depending on the scale of the emergency.

UNICEF staff in Suva report that the cyclone is affecting Viti Levu very heavily. Offices and businesses in Suva have been closed. Suva is already being hit hard by the cyclone, with loss of power, many trees down, and considerable flooding.
