Indian Filmmaker Tarsem’s “Dawn Of War” Paused For Exploring 3D Format

In view of Avatar’s colossal success, Indian filmmaker Tarsem Singh Dhandwar’s epic “Dawn of War” has been temporarily halted to explore the possibility of its 3D format, according to reports.

Studio executives of this most anticipated Montreal (Canada) based fantasy-action-drama film full of special effects about ancient Greece epic are reportedly looking into the prospect of filming it in 3D. This about $115 million project starring Henry Cavill (The Tudors) as Greek mythic warrior hero Theseus who heads a successful war against imprisoned Titans, will reportedly add about another $15 million to its budget with its conversion to 3D. Produced by Mark Canton (A Perfect Getaway), written by Charley Parlapanides (Everything for a Reason) and Vlas Parlapanides (Across the Sea), and edited by Robert Duffy (Ambush), it is slated for release later this year. Tarsem has been quoted as describing “Dawn of War” as: “hardcore action film done in Renaissance painting style”

Tarsem, 48, born in India, reportedly shuttles between India-Los Angeles (USA)-London (UK)-Italy. His visually striking “The Fall” won awards at Berlin and Catalonian international film festivals besides an Austin Film Critics Award. He also directed Golden Globe nominated Jennifer Lopez starrer Oscar nominated thriller “The Cell” and was Assistant Director for Oscar winner Cate Blanchett starrer “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”. He graduated from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena (California, USA). He attended the Bishop Cotton School in Shimla (India) and grew up in Himalayas and his father was a pilot, reports suggest.

Applauding Tarsem on his success in the international film arena, acclaimed Indo-American statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, urged India Government and large private conglomerates of India to promote independent cinema. India was full of creative and excellent filmmakers and they only needed an integrated effort in funding, encouragement, marketing/promotion, exposure in global avenues, and organization of world-level film festivals in India, Rajan Zed, who is chairperson of Indo-American Leadership Confederation, added.

“Dawn of War” is also a well known military science fiction real-time strategy video game of Relic Entertainment.
