25 Mar 2010
The Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee (SYOGOC) has assembled singers from five continents to sing the theme song for the first-ever Youth Olympic Games.
Coming on board to perform the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games (Singapore 2010) theme song are Ms Jody Williams representing Africa, Mr Sean Kingston representing America, Ms Tabitha Nauser representing Asia, Mr Steve Appleton representing Europe, and Ms Jessica Mauboy representing Oceania.
The singers are in Singapore this week to record the theme song and film the music video. They will come together once again to perform the theme song at the Opening Ceremony of the Games, which will be held on 14 August 2010 at The Float@Marina Bay.
The theme song for any Games is a powerful and emotive tool that can help to set the atmosphere, bond people from different background and culture, inspire athletes, and promote the Games.
Mr Teo Ser Luck, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports and Advisor to SYOGOC, said: "Singapore 2010 is a global event. By engaging singers from five different parts of the world to sing the theme song, we hope to increase the song's international appeal and convey the spirit of inclusiveness for the Games."
The SYOGOC appointed Mr Ken Lim as the Executive Producer for the Singapore 2010 theme song. A prominent figure in the music and entertainment scene, Ken wears many hats throughout an impressive career which spans more than two decades.
As Executive Producer of the Singapore 2010 theme song, Ken oversees all aspects of the theme song development  from the concept, music & lyrics composition, engagement of singers, song arrangement and recording, music video production, to the marketing & promotion of the song.
The theme song for the world's first Youth Olympic Games was conceptualised to reach out to the audience around the globe. The singers were selected based on their appeal to the youth," said Ken. The Singapore 2010 theme song and its music video will be launched in the second quarter of the year.
