Police Minister Calls For Public Support Towards Electoral And Police Officials
The Minister of Police, National Security and Correctional Services, Hon. James Tora today appeals once again to the good citizens of this country to render their full support to the electoral officials and the Police who will be monitoring the events of the upcoming national general election activities during the weeks of political campaigning and the actual election day.
Minister Tora also thanked the good citizens of this country for their cooperation and good behavior during the past national general elections which helped the electoral officials and Police to monitor the election processes and their successful conclusions.
He said the presence of foreign observers particularly foreign media representatives during the event will not be ruled out and he urges the running candidates and good citizens throughout the country to respect these overseas friends.
“With your full support and respect we can tell the world that despite the problems we have come through, Solomon Islands is still a good and safe place to visit and live,” Minister Tora said.
The Minister appeals to the running candidates throughout the country to talk about their visions for this nation, for doing otherwise will certainly amount to abuse of the election process.
Minister Tora also acknowledged the assistance and excellent work by RAMSI and PPF officers during the last general election and look forward for the same in the coming National General Election and in the future.
He also acknowledges and expressed his appreciation, with great satisfaction, the preparations that have been put in place by the Electoral Commission’s office and that of the Commissioner of Police for the national general elections to date.
