Cathay Pacific Announces New Flights And Connections

Cathay Pacific has announced that, as in previous years, it will be increasing capacity between Auckland and Hong Kong to cope with the peak inbound summer tourist season.

Between 28 November 2010 and 07 March 2010 Cathay Pacific's mid-afternoon departure from Auckland will be upgraded from an Airbus A340-300 aircraft to a B747-400 aircraft. This adds another 637 seats per week each way between Auckland and Hong Kong.

In addition from 30 November, Cathay Pacific’s morning service from Auckland to Hong Kong will increase from three flights per week to five flights per week, an increase of 574 seats per week each way.

David Figgins, country manager for New Zealand & Pacific Islands, said the increased flights reflected the airline’s aim to return flight schedules to 2008 pre-financial crisis levels.

“The increased flights will offer passengers greater choice and further strengthen connections through Hong Kong. Together with our new Milan and Moscow services, launched earlier this year, these increased services will certainly boost Hong Kong’s position of one of the world’s leading aviation hubs.”

In other moves that will offer New Zealand passengers more convenience, Cathay Pacific has announced new flights to Tokyo's Haneda Airport. From 31 October, Cathay Pacific will offer seven daily flights between Hong Kong and Tokyo, five flights per day between Hong Kong and Narita Airport and two flights per day between Hong Kong and Haneda Airport. Haneda Airport is located just 30 minutes from central Tokyo and is linked to the city with a monorail service. Passengers from Auckland will be able to make a quick and easy connection at Hong Kong to the afternoon service to Haneda Airport.

Cathay Pacific has also announced increased services to Sydney (to four flights per day), Brisbane (to 11 flights per week), Cairns (to daily) and Perth (to 10 flights per week).

By December, services to Paris will increase from daily to 11 times per week. Additional flights have also been added to Toronto.
