Chief of Army, Lieutenant General Ken Gillespie today welcomed over 75 senior Army leaders and key stakeholders to the Chief of Army’s Exercise 2010 (CA EX 10) with a formal welcome to key note speakers: General Peter Chiarelli, Vice Chief of Staff of the US Army; Major General Alan Howard, Assistant Chief of the Land Staff, Canadian Army; and Lieutenant General J. Suryo Prabowo, the Vice Chief of the Indonesian Army Staff.
“This year’s theme, ‘/Current Operations: Adaptive Responses to Complex Environments’, /resonates across all armies. Each has its distinctive approach to addressing what it perceives as its key issues and challenges,” General Gillespie said.
“The exercise also provides military leaders the opportunity to engage with military counterparts and senior representatives in bilateral discussions, strengthening relationships that contribute to regional security and stability.
“This type of relationship plays a central role in fostering mutual understanding and confidence which helps to add another layer of engagement between nations.”
The CA EX 10 audience also includes Service Chief and Army Commander counterparts from Cambodia, Malaysia, China and Brunei, senior representatives and delegations from Thailand, Vietnam, India, South Korea, Singapore, East Timor, New Zealand, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, and the United Kingdom; as well as Australian Army officers and senior representatives across the Australian Defence Community.
CA EX 10 will take place over the next two days in Brisbane, coinciding with the Land Warfare Conference 2010. /‘Full Spectrum Threats: Adaptive Responses’, /along//with many of the conference topics, including soldier modernisation, sustainability and emerging technology, are of direct and immediate relevance to Army.
