New senior member for Defence Reserves Support Council
Parliamentary Secretary for Defence Senator the Hon David Feeney today announced the appointment of Mr Tony Behm to the National Executive of the Defence Reserves Support Council (DRSC) as its new Senior Member.
“Mr Behm recently ended his six-year tenure as Chair of the Queensland Committee of the DRSC and brings to the Executive wide-ranging experience and networks developed during that time,” said Senator Feeney.
“As Senior Member of the DRSC National Executive, Mr Behm’s long association with Defence, both in uniform and as a member of the DRSC, will provide valuable leadership, support and assistance in guiding the Council in its support of ADF Reserves.”
“Mr Behm’s strengths are his in-depth knowledge and understanding of the Defence Reserves and the key relationships between Reservists, their employers and the community from which they are drawn.
“I would like to thank Mr Richard Bluck for his excellent service and support to the Executive during the past three years, and also his 20 years of service to the DRSC more generally. Certainly a job well done.”
The DRSC aims to enhance the availability of the Reserve component of the ADF by promoting the benefits of employing Reservists. It also aims to establish a flexible partnership with the community and employers so they are encouraged to support Reservists.
Each state and territory has committees of the Council and some also have committees in the larger regional centres. Council members are volunteers and include representatives from industry, small business, trade unions, youth and other interested community groups.
