PDP CHIEF COMMENDS EKET DELEGATES, PLEDGES FAIR DEAL DEPUTY

Legal Adviser of the Akwa Ibom State branch of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Eket Federal Constituency candidate of the party, Mr. Bassey Dan Abia jnr, a lawyer, has commended the party members in the area for rising up against a plot by his co-contestant to subvert his ticket, AkanimoReports reports on Monday. While thanking the delegates who he said eloquently demonstrated their preference for him on two occasions, he also called on his constituents to show more support for PDP He was also full of praises for the choices made by delegates at the various congresses of the party in state.

In particular, Abia jnr thanked the delegates and Akwa Ibom People for revalidating the mandate given to Governor Godswill Akpabio to steer the ship of State for another four years.

Speaking while addressing party faithful from Eket, Esit-Eket, Ibeno and Onna local government areas on his return from Abuja for the submission of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) form, Abia jnr. gave the leadership of the party at both national and State levels high score marks for the incident-free and highly satisfactory management of the party congresses. He also commended the traditional institution, political class, women and youth groups in the state for their steadfast prayer for peace and unity in the country.

The PDP flagbearer expressed appreciation to eligible voters in Eket Federal Constituency for turning out en-masse for the registration exercise and urged others who are yet to register to do so within the extension period allowed by INEC.

He affirmed confidence in the ability of INEC to ensure that every vote counts in the April general election and urged the people to continue to support the PDP to provide good governance and dividends of democracy.

Speaking on behalf of PDP leaders and supporters from Eket Federal Constituency, former Vice-Chairman of Esit Eket local government area, Hon. Usoro Akpanusoh congratulated Abia jnr. for emerging the PDP flag-bearer and reiterated the support of the people in ensuring victory for all PDP candidates in April, 2011 general election.

He advised Governor Akpabio’s critics to see positive values in the various projects executed by Governor Godswill Akpabio and retrace their steps by joining other well-meaning citizens of Akwa Ibom State at home and in the Diaspora in contributing positively to the socio economic growth of the State.

Also speaking, PDP chieftain and former Vice Chairman of Eket local government area, Hon. Ekanim Willie, PDP Chapter Chairman Ibeno local government area, Hon. Prophet Mfon and PDP Chapter Chairman, Onna local government area, Hon. Okon William Umanah appealed to losers at the various congresses of the Party to join hands with the winners and work for their victory at the general elections in April, this year.
