Hindus Congratulate Mike Myers on Marriage

Myers on marriage
Hindus, who vehemently protested against his 2008 release “The Love Guru”, have congratulated actor-comedian Mike Myers on his recently confirmed marriage and hope that he would not to attempt to lampoon Hinduism in his future movies.
Myers’, 47, marriage with longtime girlfriend Kelly Tisdale, 30-something, was announced recently. This is Myers’ second marriage who split from his wife of 12 years, producer-actress Robin Ruzan.
Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, who led the protests against “The Love Guru” for its lampooning Hinduism, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that ksama (forgiveness) was one of the main virtues of Hindu ethics. Moreover, in Hinduism, vivah (marriage) was the most important samskar (sacrament). Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, wished the new couple a wonderful journey full of joy-love-happiness as they built their life together.
If Myers visited a nearby Hindu temple, paid his obeisance, expressed remorse, and assured not to lampoon Hinduism in his future movies, Hindus would not only absolve him but might also pray for his success in his future ventures if asked, Zed added.
Rajan Zed further said that although Myers’ temple visit would not undo the damage done to the community, but it might help heal the wounds somewhat of apparently disturbed Hindu populace of the world, who numbered around one billion.
Zed also suggested Myers to seek some spiritual wisdom as ancient Hindu scripture Bhagavad-Gita (Song of the Lord) said: Nothing in this world purifies like spiritual wisdom.
Michael John Myers, a British Canadian, who was the lead actor, co-writer and co-producer of “The Love Guru”, played Guru Pitka in it. Besides Hindus, even United States Conference of Catholic Bishops declared “The Love Guru” “morally offensive” and slapped it with its highest rating “O”.
Myers has been writer and lead actor in Emmy winner Jay Roach (Recount) directed about $473 million-grossing franchise “Austin Powers”. Hinduism is oldest and third largest religion of the world and its ultimate goal is moksh (liberation).
