Australian Defence Force: Call for Public Submissions

Call for Public Submissions:
Comment on the Outcomes of the Army Reserve Modernisation Workshop 01/11

Army has recently commenced a series of Reserve Modernisation Workshops focussed on optimising the Reserve contribution to Army's capability as part of the Total Force.

The intent of the workshops is to develop clearly articulated Army Reserve roles and tasks, accepted within the Army Reserve community and fully understood throughout Army.

The workshops also aim to develop specified Army Reserve design principles to bridge the gap between Total Force Concept theory and force design implementation, that will enable Army to maximise appropriate use of Army Reserve capability.

The outcomes of the Reserve Modernisation Workshops will enable Army to determine how best to utilise the Reserve and to structure it accordingly during the force design stage currently embedded within the Force Modernisation Review process. This will allow Army to develop future force structures based on capability requirements and consideration of the Total Force.

As is normal during similar military strategic reviews, interested individuals or organisations are invited to make submissions on the outcomes of the Reserve Modernisation Workshop 01/11 held in February, noting that a second workshop will be held in April 2011 to examine Army Reserve; training; administration and governance; and command and control at Brigade level and above.

The principal participants for the workshop were Commanders from a broad cross section of Army and included a proportional representation from both the Army Reserve and the Regular Army.

The outcomes of the initial Reserve Modernisation Workshop and the process for submissions may be accessed on the Internet through the following link: www.army.gov.au.
