"Fly-In" Activist Welcome Update - Instead A 5pm Protest
Update: Instead of a welcome at the airport, a 5pm Aviv protest
Update: Instead of a welcome at the
airport, a 5pm Aviv protest
After it tuned out that police at Ben Gurion Airport intend to arrest on the spot anyone coming to welcome the peace activists from abroad, organizers decided to cancel the welcome which they intended to carry out at Ben Gurion Airport at 1pm, and hold instead a protest tonight at 5:00 in Tel Aviv, at the cross road between Azrieli Center ("Hashalom") and the Ministry of Interior. There will be brought the "Welcome to Palestine" signs prepared for the airport welcome.
As was reported, a large part of the activists who intended to reach Palestine via Ben Gurion Airport were blocked in Europe according to "black lists" prepared by Israel's intelligence services. Like the mobilizing of the Greek government to block the "Freedom Flotilla" constitutes the export and outsourcing of the occupation and oppression policies, from the Occupied Territories to the entire world. Activists who do manage to board flights and reach Ben Gurion Airport are likely to be deported forthwith, with no chance of making contact with Israeli activists. It is only left to us to demonstrate in protest of the ever-exacerbating policy of oppression, which we are determined to go on opposing.
Yesterday...
Tomorrow! Welcoming the Palestine tourists at the airport !
The Marhaba to Palestine campaign is
aimed at protesting the ongoing travel restrictions imposed
by The State of Israel on those entering end exiting the
occupied Palestinian territories, and the ongoing denial of
Palestinian human rights.
Usually, an international activist who wishes to visit Palestine has to conceal her/his political intentions when landing at Ben Gurion Airport, and disguise herself/himself as a tourist with a detailed tour plan.
On July 8th, planeloads of international activists, 550 men and women, will land at Ben Gurion and declare openly: We are here to visit Palestine.
We will wait for them at the airport starting at 13:00,
until the arrival of all activists, with "welcome" signs in
several languages, supporting
them and expressing our
solidarity.
Note: This event will not be a
demonstration, only a welcoming activity.
We ask the representatives of the Israeli and international media to be present and see with their own eyes that no "provocation" is intended.
