UN Art Contest on Gender Equality in Education
UN Art Contest on Gender Equality in Education: Deadline Extended to 30 September 2011
The United Nations Girls’ Education Initiative and UNESCO invite girls and boys residing in Asia Pacific, aged 18 and under, to exercise their creative imaginations and submit drawings around the theme of “How does girls' and boys' equality in education help us all?
This is a great opportunity for young people to get involved in making a positive change through the promotion of gender equality in education.
The deadline for the contest has been extended to 30 September 2011, to allow submissions from interested participants from across the region.
The 13 winning drawings will be featured in the “Gender in Education Calendar 2012,” which will be distributed widely throughout the Asia-Pacific region. The contest winners will receive official UNGEI certificates of merit and a copy of the Calendar. Click here to see previous calendars.
Submissions must be on A4 sized paper using any drawing materials. The drawings can challenge gender stereotypes and depict, for example, gender equality in sports; playing together; school environment; workplace, or activities at home.
Winning drawings will be announced in November 2011.
Please fill out the registration form and indicate on the back of each drawing your full name, age, sex, and country.
The contest is organized in partnership with the United Nations Girls’ Education Initiative (UNGEI), East Asia and the Pacific (EAP) and South Asia (SA).
