Work Begins On Observation And Solidarity Brigade

PRESS RELEASE

Work Begins On Observation And Solidarity Brigade

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

This Saturday August 27 in San Cristobal de las Casas, work began on the OBSERVATION AND SOLIDARITY BRIGADE with the Zapatista communities, composed of adherents to the Sixth Declaration of the Lacandon Jungle, members of organizations and groups of the Other Campaign around the country, and international comrades. The Brigade will travel to Zapatista territory in Chiapas state, and will collect testimonies about the conditions under which they ensure the autonomous development of their projects, and the actions with which the bad governments respond to these communities.

Given the serious situation facing our fellow Zapatista support bases in several communities, according to information released by the Good Government attacked by the paramilitary leadership organization called ORCAO in complicity with the three levels of government, we have agreed in recent days to conduct this Brigade of Observation and Solidarity with Zapatista Communities from August 27 to September 3.

Our presence in Zapatista territory also confirms our commitment to struggle and solidarity with our indigenous brothers and sisters, men and women worthy to form the Zapatista bases of support, given the ongoing violence, while we will document the progress of Zapatista autonomy and the treatment of bad government and disseminate these actions across Mexico and to other countries.

We are demanding that the bad governments respect the work of this brigade, and that we are reporting on their work.

Mexico City, August 25, 2011.
Sincerely,
Against Dispossession and Repression, Solidarity!
