Demonstrations Planned for Obama Bay Area Fundraising Visit

EVENT: Rally & Protest
WHEN: Tuesday, October 25, 11:00 AM
WHERE: “W” Hotel, Third and Howard (near Moscone Center). San Francisco
WHO:
Anti-war, pro-environment, civil liberties, religious and many other protesters including “Occupyers”

President Barack Obama arrives in San Francisco Tuesday to greet major donors at an exclusive luncheon, almost one-year to the day before the 2012 election.

Protesters will rally outside the $7500 per plate campaign fundraiser when Obama speaks. Organized by many activist groups, they say they will protest the Obama presidency’s “criminal activities that people of conscience must denounce.”

“World Can’t Wait welcomes all progressive people to denounce the crimes of our government, because they are NOT IN OUR NAME and they must be stopped,” said World Can’t Wait organizer Stephanie Tang today.

Joining the protest will be World Can’t Wait, Cindy Sheehan, and activists ranging from Code Pink to Occupy SF and anti-war U.S. military veterans.

As hundreds of “Occupy Wall Street” protests continue to spring up across the U.S., these protests have turned the national conversation toward the economic and social disparities they target. The President’s fundraiser will convene a few blocks west of the heart of California’s “Wall Street West,” the Financial District – now the home of a large “Occupy SF“ encampment, many of whose activists are expected to join Tuesday’s protest.

At particular issue for the national organization World Can’t Wait are “crimes of our government” ongoing since the Bush Regime and still under Obama:

• expanding wars, occupations and the related torture policies, after 10 years of war in Afghanistan, then Iraq
• suppression of whistleblowers (especially now in the cases of Bradley Manning, and Wikileaks)
• the now-legalized (by Obama) executive power to order assassinations of U.S. citizens such as Anwar Al-Awlaki
