GAZA (PIC) -- The new Director of operations of Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees "UNRWA", Robert Turner, said he will launch a campaign to draw attention to the difficult conditions in the Gaza Strip.
This was revealed on Monday, during a visit by Turner and his Deputy Chris Nordahl to Dr. Mohammad Awad, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Planning of Gaza government, in his office with the presence of Ghazi Hamad, deputy foreign minister.
Turner said that Gaza was not receiving the deserved attention and that was their duty to correct this situation. He added that UNRWA was facing a number of obstacles, most importantly the decrease in aid and donations.
Awad explained to Turner the crises that the Gaza Strip is suffering from, particularly the unresolved electricity crisis.
Turner expressed his hope to build cooperative relations with the Palestinian government in Gaza in order to ease the suffering of people from the Gaza Strip.
Awad welcomed Turner’s first visit to him, expressing his hope for more cooperation and coordination between his government and UNRWA in order to provide better service for the Palestinian people who are suffering badly because of the siege.
