Israeli Prison Still Holding Ibrahim Hamid in Solitary

Israeli Prison Service Still Holding Ibrahim Hamid in Solitary Confinement

19/05/2012

RAMALAH, (PIC)-- Relatives of Ibrahim Hamid, a detained leader of the armed wing of Hamas, said on Saturday that he was still held in an isolation ward in the Israeli Askalan jail.

They told the PIC that lawyer Hani Al-Alami told them that he was not transferred to Hadarim jail as has happened with the other isolated prisoners, but that he could be taken within the few coming hours.

They said that the continued isolation of Hamid was in violation of the agreement between the Israeli prison service and the Palestinian prisoners who went on hunger strike for almost a month demanding an end to the policy of solitary confinement, among other demands.

The agreement stipulated that the prisoners would be removed from solitary confinement  within 72 hours after the agreement was signed last Tuesday.
