UFree Network celebrates the victory of prisoner Sarsak after 95 days of hunger strike

UFree celebrates the new victory brought by the hunger striker Mahmoud Sarsak after 95 days; such a strike is the longest in the history of Palestinian Prisoners Movement.

On 18/6/2012, Mahmoud Sarsak and IPS reached for an agreement states on releasing Sarsak on 10/7/2012 in return of ending his open hunger strike.

Mohammed Al Jabaren, the lawyer, said "Israeli occupation will set Sarsak free on 10/7/2012 upon ending his hunger strike. He pointed out that the written agreement was signed in presence of both IPS and Sarsak. Al Jabaren mentioned that Sarsak will be moved to a hospital in Tel Aviv for medical treatment where he will stay there until his release and he will not return to jail anymore.

Al Jabaren described Sarsak's spirits being high upon signing the agreement and he immediately contacted his family to tell them the good news. Al Jabaren said that Mahmoud nearly lost half of his weight since his hunger strike.

Mohammed Hamdan, UFree chairman, considered Sarsak's victory over the Israeli jailer as a triumph for all Palestinians, Palestinian Prisoners Movement and all freemen around the world who consolidated with Sarsak's hunger strike. Hamdan pointed out "Our prisoners became stronger and solid than other times because they are defending their rights, meanwhile, Israeli occupation became weaker despite its prisons because its crimes and violations against Palestinians are clearly exposed to the whole universe."

The Israeli occupation arrested Mahmoud Sarsak for 3 years without any charge and it renewed his administrative detention every 6 months.
