Barhoum: Abbas-Mofaz meeting ominous

Barhoum: Abbas-Mofaz meeting ominous

Palestinian Information Centre
28/06/2012

GAZA, (PIC)-- Fawzi Barhoum, a Hamas spokesman, has described the expected meeting between PA chief Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli deputy premier Shauf Mofaz as “ominous”.

He said that the meeting is in the interest of the “Israeli enemy”, adding that Mofaz is a war criminal and is wanted for trial in a number of national and international courts.

Barhoum told the PIC on Thursday that the meeting would bestow legitimacy on the Israeli war criminals and would attempt to lure Abbas anew into the trap of futile negotiations.

He said that Abbas bowed to “American and Zionist pressures” and returned to talks with Israeli officials. He warned that Israel would exploit the meeting as a cover for more crimes and Judaization.

The spokesman asked all Palestinian factions not to remain silent and to voice a strong position against such meetings that ran contrary to the Palestinian people’s demands of severing all contacts with the “Zionist occupation”.

An announcement in Ramallah said that Abbas would receive Mofaz next Sunday.
