Under Secretary María Otero will travel to Spain, Turkey and Jordan July 8-16. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration Kelly Clements will accompany Under Secretary Otero during her visit to Turkey.

In Spain, July 8-9, Under Secretary Otero will deliver opening remarks at the Global Counterterrorism Forum High-Level Conference on Victims of Terrorism. She will also engage in bilateral discussions with senior government officials on topics such as counter terrorism cooperation, assistance to victims of terrorism, and the fight against trafficking in persons.

While in Turkey, July 10-13, Under Secretary Otero will meet with government officials, representatives of non-governmental and international organizations, human rights activists, and youth to discuss displacement, trafficking in persons, regional cooperation, human rights issues, and youth engagement. During her visit, she will travel to Ankara and Istanbul.

In her final stop in Jordan, July 15-16, Under Secretary Otero will meet with senior Jordanian officials, representatives from international organizations, youth groups, human rights activists, trafficking victims, and law enforcement officials. She will also travel to refugee areas along the Jordanian border and speak with individuals who have fled the violence in Syria.
