UFree Network expressed its concern anger over the Baghdad conference Palestinian prisoners. The organisation called on participants to withdraw from the conference, especially Palestinian Prisoners Minister, Isa Qarqi’ and the Palestinian delegation.

The call of UFree Network comes in protest of Iraqi government policy towards Palestinian refugees in Iraq were dozens of them are arrested for no reasons. The prisoners are exposed to torture and humiliation exerted by Iraqi authorities.

UFree Network considered the participation in the conference as “unashamed” mistake. “It’s extremely paradoxical and provocative that Baghdad conference is held to discuss the plight of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, meanwhile Iraqi government is arresting and torturing Palestinians for the reason of being Palestinian. They are jailed for no reasons or legal causes. Said UFree

According to UFree Network, the conference is being held while there is dozens of Palestinian prisoners jailed in Iraq. Many of them are imprisoned in unknown places and no one knows their fate. It added that Iraqi government is hiding its practices against them. It suggested that Palestinian prisoners in Iraq and Israel are alike, there should be no discrimination whatsoever in dealing with their cases.

“Based on the witness statements we gathered from released Palestinian prisoners in Iraq; prisoners are exposed to harsh torture that’s not different to this practiced by Israel, sometimes it’s even worse. Some of the witness statement revealed that some methods of torture are heinous and is similar to what happened in Abu Ghraib jail”

As for UFree Chairman, Mohamamd Hamdan, Arab league should have held the conference in a place where Palestinians are respected instead to Baghdad where their rights are taken away.

“We are extremely disturbed and shocked of the participation of any Palestinian part in this conference. We think such participation exonerates Iraqi government which practices torture and persecution against Palestinian prisoners and Palestinian people living in Iraq. It is shame to take part in such event that is carried out on the shoulders of out tortured Palestinian comrades” stated Hamdan

It is worth mention that Palestinians in Iraq are exposed to systematic maltreatment, humiliation and deadly attacks. Since the Anglo-American led invasion to Iraq in 2003, their numbers have diminished from over 60 thousands to less than 5 thousands in 2012.

Palestinians have fled to Syrian and Jordanian desert then to other places worldwide. This is due to constant militia’s attacks which storm their residential areas in Iraq. These attacks left many Palestinians dead, wounded and arrested over the last few years.

Meanwhile, Iraqi government denies such facts and continues to ignore the Palestinian plight. Palestinian areas remain vulnerable, and sectarian militates continue its attack.
