Open Letter From The General Chairperson Of Front Pepera PB

Open Letter From The General Chairperson Of Front Pepera PB To Support Efforts By Mr John Otto Onawame To Enable West Papua To Become A MSG Member Within This Year

To: All leaders of the different Components of the Nation of Papua and to all West Papua Activists worldwide.

Greetings of Unity and Liberation! Remembering that the ethnic people (nation) of Papua are being annihilated by a slow-moving genocide, let us form our lines to lead the struggle for the liberation of the nation of West Papua so that we might save the ethnic Papuan race. To achieve that goal and to hasten our reaching that moment when the sovereign independence of the State of West Papua will be acknowledged at law, the importance of the people of Papua working together and having unity are absolutely critical.

This demands that we have mutual appreciation of all efforts being made by the different components of our nation towards those ends as supported by the international community. To this end let us avoid criticizing each other or making claims against each other or acting in ways that undermine confidence in other activists or other components of our nation. As this can only weaken and harm the noble struggle of our people.

One particular effort at present is that of Mr John Otto Onawame and his associates who are working towards Papua being made a member of the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) before the end of this year. This is indeed a matter that presents a real possibility of advancing our Struggle and which needs the full appreciation and support of the entire Papuan community with all its components wherever they may be.

Front PEPERA PB wholeheartedly supports the efforts of Mr John Otto Onawame and his associates in this matter such that Papua may become an MSG member this year.

In this regard the President of the Federal Republic of West Papua (NFRPB) Mr Forkorus Yaboisembut S.Pd on Sunday 24 March 2013 officially released a formal Statement of the Official Decision of NFRPB that (as translated) "An opportunity be given to Mr John Otto Onawame and his associates to undertake the process to enable West Papua to become a member of the MSG this year".

Front PEPERA PB wishes to convey its appreciation towards the President of NFRPB for this very wise decision and totally supports the decision of the NFRPB as stated by the President, in the interests of working together and for the unity of the West Papuan people in our Liberation Struggle.

During this time of Easter, Front PEPERA PB urges all components of the nation of Papua wherever you may be to give a new level of meaning to our Easter celebrations by supporting Mr John Otto Onawame and his associates; and to not to allow any party to obstruct, hamper or disturb this process that they are undertaking such that within this year we might see West Papua be accepted as an official member of the MSG. Let us give our full moral and material support to enable this to become a reality. At this time Front PEPERA PB appeals to leaders of all nations in the region of Melanesia to receive West Papua as an official member of the MSG this year.

We convey our appreciation to the international community in solidarity with the people of Papua for all your support for our Struggle whether morally or materially. Front PEPERA PB indeed hopes that the international community will give its full active support to John Otto Onawame and his Associates as they make all efforts to have West Papua received as a member of the MSG before it meets in June or July 2013.

With thanks for your anticipated attention to this matter by all parties involved.

Abepura Prison: Tuesday 2 April 2013.

Unity without Limits, Struggle until Victorious.

Selpius A. Bobii General Chairperson - The United Front of the Struggle of the People of West Papua (Front PEPERA PB)
