BBC’s Mishal Husain to conduct major interview
with Malala Yousafzai
Interview to air on BBC in UK and
on BBC World News around the world
London, May 1, 2013 – The BBC’s Mishal Husain will do the first interview with Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani schoolgirl who survived being shot in the head by the Taliban in October. The BBC team will be filming with Malala as she visits the United Nations to speak about her passion for girl's education. Mishal will also be spending time at home with Malala filming daily life with this remarkable young woman who is balancing school work, and campaigning while still undergoing treatment as a result of the shooting.
The
interview will air in October - a year after the Taliban
tried to kill Malala - and will coincide with a similar
interview conducted by Diane Sawyer of ABC, who are the
BBC's partners in the USA.
The interview will be
broadcast on the BBC in the UK, on BBC Urdu and on BBC
World News, the BBC’s international news channel which
broadcasts to more than 350 million households around the
world. It will also feature on BBC World Service and
BBC.com.
This interview is due to form a central part of a planned ‘Panorama’ film on her story and will be her first major interview since the attack.
