Joint Statement By the United States and the Government of the Sultanate of Oman

The Governments of the Sultanate of Oman and the United States of America are pleased to announce a deal for the acquisition of a U.S. manufactured ground based air defense system. This system, which has been selected by the Sultanate of Oman following a thorough evaluation and assessment process, offers high levels of effectiveness, capable of meeting the operational requirements of the Royal Air Force of Oman and providing seamless air protection by virtue of its cutting edge air defense technology.

In the meantime, final negotiations on the procurement of the system are in progress with U.S. Defense Manufacturer Raytheon Company and a final conclusion of the deal is expected following agreements on the technical aspects of the system, through life support and maintenance and other related matters.
