Sri Lanka: The 2nd Issue of the Sinhala E-publication Srilankawe Manawa Himikam

The Asian Human Rights Commission is pleased to announce the publication of the 2nd issue of Srilankavae Manawa Himikam (Human Rights in Sri Lanka).

This issue includes articles on the Vesak celebrations, the mass grave at Matale, a comment on the advice of the Chief Justice to the lawyers to settle cases outside of court with the relevant public authorities, the issue of police submission to the rich and the powerful, the death of the 7-year-old boy in Kandy who was abducted on his way home from school, where are the core values of the Commonwealth, a comment on the Attorney General's Department, a police torture chamber, the assassination of Gerald Perera and a comment on the impact of the 1978 Constitution in displacing the legal system.

This issue also reproduces the report of Transparency International on the independence of the judiciary in Sri Lanka. The issue consists of 50 pages.
